How to Impress the Ladies....

So Happy Valentine's Day to all....

My day started off with my little friend JJ (A Kindergartener) telling me a few things about impressing the ladies....

Usually JJ wears a button up shirt, vest and tie everyday, to do just that, impress the ladies (his words) today he came to school and promptly stripped down to his undershirt.

When he came to the library we informed his escort, a practicum student, that he normally wears the fancier getup to impress the ladies and JJ promptly responds, "no I'm not doing that anymore."

Of course I have to egg him on so I ask, "you're not wearing your tie anymore or you're not trying to impress the ladies"

He said well I'm still trying to impress the ladies but I married her so...(he trails off)

Me: Who did you marry JJ?

JJ: T (for short to keep her identity unknown) who is a girl in his class

Then he proceeds to tell us that he has been working out so he wanted to show off his muscles but...

"I can't work out at curves, it's only for girls"

So long story short, wearing a tie and vest, showing of your muscles in an "A" shirt and working out are three way to impress the ladies OR  you can just send flowers like my guy did!

The Joys of Life in Fourth Grade

 So I'm reading this wonderful book the other day called the Hallelujah Flight about the first African American to get his aviation license and to make a transcontinental flight across the U.S. I would definitely recommend it...which I should say before I tell you this story :)  Although it shouldn't ruin it for you.

During the story it gets so hot in the cockpit that the two fliers have to strip down to their underwear.  Of course I get a bunch of ewwws and gross but another student chimes in and says...some people call that free-ballin'....

My immediate response.....NOOOOO we are not going there....and they are stripped down to their underwear that's it!  AHHH crisis averted!

Live Life...A Year of Firsts

Todd and I are experiencing a lot of "firsts" as a married couple....enjoy!

First Christmas--pretty typical for us, books & technology were pretty much the name of the game!

First New Years! Two weddings and one big Happy New Years Kiss!
Our first and hopefully only set of new blinds! (They are took two months to get installed...although the long delay and the idiots at JCPennys got us installation for....FREE!
My first attempt with Uppercase Living wall decals...NOT easy! Thanks to my mother we now have this beautiful saying above our door! A message within a message...Love, laugh, learn...LIVE LIFE!

Falling Objects....

Our interaction the other day in the hall

Alex: Mrs. Chamberlain do you have a helmet I could borrow?

Me: Um no Alex I don't have a helmet....what do you need it for?

Alex: To protect myself from falling objects

Me: What kind of falling objects?

Alex: Well I have already discovered one in this school

Me: Well what is it?

Alex: Basketballs

Me: Sorry Alex I don't keep a helmet at school....

Oh the hazards of PE in elementary school!

The Joys of Kindergarten

Scenario #1

The following description of a certain object was described as follows by a Kindergarten student at my building...

It's kind of a piece of paper that you put in a book and it helps you keep your place.

I'm sure you can all guess what this child was describing right?

I bet you were thinking a bookmark?

Well you are sadly mistaken this was the response I was given when I asked one of my kinder classes if anyone knew what a tadpole was... :)

My response? Um not quite, I think you're describing a bookmark, but good guess!


Scenario #2

One of our stand out of a crowd Kinder friends was working on writing work today and the task was to answer the following question.

If you could your family anything in the world what would it be?

Among the things this child wrote about?

I would get my dad.............Ghost Rider Bad Ass #2

So Mondays and Friday are generally crazy days in any elementary school, especially mine.

I was running around like crazy today, which makes the day go fast, but boy am I exhausted by the end of it.

At the end of the day I have a duty that I do where I stand outside on this main sidewalk and make sure that all students are getting off school grounds safely. One of my students who has Aspergers always has something to say as he passes by. This is the conversation that ensued today....

Student: See ya tomorrow!

Me: Yep see ya!

Student: (Stops walking and turns around) I know what I am going to do when I get home. First I am going to do my homework and then play Pokemon Emerald.

Me: Oh well that sounds like a good plan

Student: Yeah I'm in a pretty good spot

Me: Yeah you're pretty lucky, I have to go to class tonight. I come to school all day for work and then I go to school at night.

Student: Wow, when you do get any sleep?

Me: Well I guess I don't get a whole lot of sleep

Student: (Gets pretty close to my face) Hmm...that must be why you have bags under your eyes!

Me: Yeah I guess so.....now go home please!

Great way to end a crazy Monday.....thanks.....thanks a lot!

Note to self: Pick up cucumber to make cucumber slices on next grocery store trip
